  • Yes, it does seem funny when they also believe that their prophet said something like "Judge not, lest ye be judged".
  • Some do, the social conservatives. They generally were not exposed to a great variety of cultural elements during their formative years, leading them to develop a very limited, ignorant view of the world around them. You have to have some degree of tolerance (and pity) when dealing with them.
  • Certainly some do but not all. The people that judge others are usually doing it from a very limited knowledge or base of what the world and human nature is all about.
  • Not all Christians are like this, you get those that are corrupt such as Fred Phelps who preaches about if your gay your going to hell. It just makes other Christians, the ones that do the right thing and live by it look bad.
  • "he who hasn't sinned, cast the first stone".. hypocrite is the right word..
  • maybe you should try listining to what they are saying instead of just napping on about how the judge you , because it seems as if you judge them a little to quickly
  • Self-righteousness attacks on others -- regardless of the religion involved -- is mainly a function of having let someone else do the actual WORK of spiritual development and then taking their words as your own. This is particularly common in sects which emphasize scriptural learning over personal experience. Someone whose religion is primarily grounded in their personal experience has a deeper and richer appreciation of the underlying principles of their faith, and is more likely to "include" others rather than excluding them. Those whose religion is mainly a matter of adopting the views of others (either from scripture or from sermons / discussions, etc.) are prone to go on the attack because that kind of learning provides an uncertain foundation, and that uncertainty makes folks nervous. One way to alleviate the nervousness is to turn your attention outward and "prove" your beliefs by attacking others and doing a lot of aggressive proselytizing, as if changing other's minds would somehow make your own more certain.
  • This is only an opinion based on my experience of 5 years in many different church groups. When your in a church the sermons usually focus on sin, right from wrong, sins of others exposed so that "the people" will be able to "learn" from their mistakes. Everything that is human nature they cast judgement on. Even if they themselves are right in the middle of "sin". If this is what it takes for a person to control the mind, then that is great. Not everyone needs conviction to help with wrong thinking. How about focusing the mind on love and positive habits?????
  • I would never tell anyone they are going to hell. As far as I am concerned, hell is just "Sheol", which is the grave, death. People don't need to be reminded they will die. I let the Almighty be the judge, jury and executioner... not me.
  • Because, secretly theyre jealous that we 'sinners are having all the fun, and they gotta wait till they die!
  • I've never been around those kind. I've seen them in the media but they've never sounded very Christ-like to me. I would never think to judge anyone else as I cannot judge hearts and that is what it would take. Plus I don't believe that people are going to any burning hell. People just die and are buried.
  • well the bible says study to show yourself approved, so it sounds like everyone has thoughts as far as study goes not many do???GOD DOES JUDGE, HIS TERMS, NOT OURS, maybe we need to listen not talk on what we know little about,
