  • I never know what to say to cheer people up, so I don't try to. I don't like when people try to cheer me up when I'm having a bad day. Not many have been successfull at it.
  • I prefer to cheer myself up in due time. And, if I sense other people feel that way, I'll leave them alone. Otherwise, if they are a good friend, I might do something to help them.
  • No i like to be left alone..... i take my own time to be ok
  • I always ask if I can do anything to help. Sometimes they just need to vent.
  • Witty and comical isn't the best approach when someone's feeling bad. If someone gave me witty and comical when I was stressed out I might make an exception to my normal ladylike demeanor and bite right through their spine where the head joins the busybody. Better to ask "How can I help?" and assist however they say to do; if they say there isn't really anything I can do, then I tell them to hang in there and I leave them alone.
  • I enjoy putting a smile on someone's face, especially if they are having a bad day. It brings joy to my heart. Also, I think I am such a comedienne, so I feel like if you can make someone who is miserable smile or laugh, you really are funny. Sometimes I like for someone to cheer me up, but sometimes I just do not want to be bothered. I just want to bask in my anger, as strange as that sounds.
  • I was in Subway and a woman was really being a problem with the sandwich maker, complaining about everything. After she was thru, I went up and complained that my pickle was upside down. We both had a good laugh.
  • I hate it when people try to cheer me up. If I'm having a bad day, the last thing I need is to feel like I have to laugh at someone's attempt at cheesy humour. Despite my own grumpiness when I'm having a bad day, I am unusually good at cheering other people up by listening and being sympathetic.
  • Depends. If I think that levity will brighten their day, then I will definitely give it a try. If somebody is having a bad day because their only child just died, humor isn't going to help.
  • I pretty much agree with all the answers ( nine at this point). I tend to appreciate people caring and trying to help. What I do allow to irritate me if I'm upset or anxious inside is when someone then strolls by and tells me " to smile."
