Why do some people on AB react negatively to the subject content of some questions when the person asking did not specify why they asked? I am not talking about random, senseless questions.

I think it may be to do with the way people want to "guide" other people into thinking their way. So if you are "punished" with negative ratings for the question, maybe you'll go away and not ask such "offensive" questions again. I can't really answer for certain as I have not reacted that way to questions for information, only where I saw a question attacking another user.

BEST QUESTION EVER! I suspect that in many cases it's because they perceive some questions as threats or challenges to their world view rather than just taking them at face value and assuming the best.
