Yes I am familiar with his music. His band was the Crickets, He died in a plane crash with Richie Valens and the Big Bopper.

Absolutely. He passed not too long before I was born, but I knew his music. My mom was a fan in high school/college. We saw the musical "Buddy" when we were in London in '93. Good show!
