Spirulina contains rich vegetable protein (60~ 63 %, 3~4 times higher than fish or beef )
Be aware that excess protein consumption can cause a variety of problems including bone mineral loss, kidney damage, and dehydration. Your body can only use so much protein, the excess is either broken down through oxidization, placing an enormous strain on the kidneys, or it is stored as body fat. Neither option is particularly desirable.

Understand your need to get enough protein in your vegetarian diet. Having low blood sugar probs, personally I need at least 75 grams to feel good. Here is an article that I wrote for ehow on how to get enough protein in your vegetarian diet.

Lentils are cheap, high in protein and quick and easy to cook. Stew them with onions, tomatoes and garlic and you have a nutritious and delicious meal for very little money.

Quorn is a more processed food (or range of foods) that you may wish to investigate.

Soy is extremely protein rich, and you can get it in more products than just tofu these days. Edamame, found in the grocery store, is a great snack; it's basically the soy bean in pod (or not) heated up. There are soy snacks, soy milk and a whole array of meatless soy frozen products (like Boca Burger).

If your not talking vegan (no meat or dairy), eggs are a rich source of protein as well, as are any beans (though they have carbs.) There are also protein drink powders you can buy as well. Good luck with your efforts.
