  • Therapist are there to help you, they give you one to one time, they listen to you problems and your most intimate feelings and make you feel safe and when you leave you always feel better than when you went in. The things you would want in a serious relationship are similar to that. Thats why you still think about her. Try to mix with new people more, but dont expect that closeness you feel with the therapist to develop quickly, in social relationships that takes time. Try to remember she is paid to help you, it might help you to distance your feelings.
  • I have been through counseling and I have developed feelings for therapists’ before also. It does not help when the therapist is good looking either. I think such feelings are more common then may be thought. A therapist is there to help a person deal with some powerful emotions. Usually, such emotions are negative and from the past. These emotions are mostly bothersome and not intimate. Therapists’ are trained to keep professional distance between themselves and their clients. Very rarely does any kind of intimate feelings, for a client, develop during such a encounter. I would use distraction to stop thinking of her. Your therapist had a job to do and she did it. I am sorry that you feel hurt about not being with her. Time is the only thing that will make such hurtful feelings go away. Good luck dealing with all this. Remember, think good thoughts!
