Both parents were fairly good looking in their youth as I gather from the family albums. We would never be considered even middle class. Back in the 50's dads worked, moms stayed home and took care of the house and kids. Dad had a menial blue collar job in a paper factory, which had several strikes back then. I remember getting government food during these times. Finally the plant closed and dad went to work as a custodian at a local hospital. So we managed to eke it out, but there certainly was no great abundance.
