Sorry, I don't think PETA is 'purer than the driven snow', but I think their goals are noble ones. Their tactics and techniques for furthering those goals are often lame, but those shortcomings are correctable. What, are you *in favor of* abusing animals?
-
I think they are right on track with protecting animals against abuse, but when it comes to eating meat, it can be their choice without forcing their ideals on others.
-
The things that PETA is famous for are crazy I'll admit, but the things they do that aren't to just rile us up and make us pay attention are very noble. If people cared about things the way that PETA does, the world would be a lot better off IMO.

Peta does have a place in society. I do agree that sometimes they go to far. But they are trying to protect animals which I think is a good thing.
-
NO, I think they are much more dangerous than that.

I disagree... but PETA definitely isn't a good organization. I think the people who have committed themselves to PETA have been given misinformation about the organization. PETA believes that people shouldn't OWN animals... and, in their eyes, animals are better off dead than "slaves". I've seen videos on Youtube of teenagers working at Petsmart or Petco who record the birds/lizards that are sick and how "horrible" they are being treated by being put in isolation cages in the back. The teenagers think PETA would come in and swoop up the rats and nurse them back to health... but PETA would just as soon put them to sleep, while the stores have a no-kill policy where they keep them in the back, well fed and watered, until they die on their own. People need to REALLY do research on an organization; not getting the information from the org's site or founder or anything, but by looking at what they've done in the past & what they've said to the media, etc. Sometimes you think the org. you are funding is doing good, but in reality you just haven't been informed of the truth.
-
Truthfully, I don't think they are people who love animals so much as people who hate people, at least at the top of the organization. Most of the rank and file members I've known claim to love animals but rarely know very much about them.
-
I don't know about that. I joined PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) years ago and we all eat tasty little animals, (and big ones too). :-)!!

All the great vegetarians who were also torch bearers to human kind below DISAGREE except for one in the list: All tremble at violence; all fear death. Putting oneself in the place of another, one should not kill nor cause another to kill. -- Sakyamuni Buddha, Dhammapada The eating of meat extinguishes the seed of great compassion. --The Mahaparinirvana For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seeds of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love. --Pythagoras Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet -- Albert Einstein, [Physicist Nobel Prize 1921] To be a vegetarian is to disagree.... To disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste and wars, We must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer [Polish Author, Nobel Prize 1978] If I am to expect others to respect my life, then I must respect the other life I see, however strange it may be to mine. We need a boundless ethics which will include the animals also. -- Rev. Dr. Albert Schweitzer [Nobel Peace Prize 1952] The worst sin towads our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That's the essence of inhumanity. -- George Bernard Shaw [Writer Nobel Prize Winner] I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look on the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men. -- Leonardo Da Vinci The awful wrongs and sufferings forced upon the innocent, faithful animal race, form the blackest chapter in the whole world's history. -- Edwar Augustus Freeman [Professor of Modern History - Oxford] Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harminig all other living beings, we are all savages. -- Thomas Alva Edison [Inventor] What is it that should trace the insuperable line? The question is NOT, "Can they reason?", nor "Can they talk?", BUT, "Can they suffer?" -- Jeremy Bentham [Philosopher] A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite, and to act so is immoral. --Leo Tosloy [Russian Author War and Peace] Who else agrees with me that PETA members are just a bunch of vegetarians that need to get a life? -- Answerbag Member onething [Slaughterhouse worker, Nobody Prize Winner 2009]
-
I don't, I think PETA members are a bunch of hypocrites who need to act ethically and respect women's rights, anti-racism etc AS WELL AS animal rights.
-
Yes, it is much easier for most to simply not care about animals lives, the environment, etc. Selfishness is definitely not something to be proud of!
