I'm homeschooled, so I get to do work on pretty much whatever I want to, which has led me to do some pretty useless stuff, just because it caught my fancy at the time.
But I think the topper is the time I spent studying a very thick coursebook on "The History Of Belgian Painting"
Very entertaining, but completely useless.
I regularly apply stuff that I've learned in all my school subjects such as history, English, math, Spanish, science, etc.
To me, there is no such thing as a useless subject. it is there for a reason, and if they were useless then they would'nt be up there from the board of education. Learning is a good thing, I thirst for knowledge... to use the most out of my brain. Did you know that we only use 2% of our brains?
A sociology course called "Marriage and Family." It amounted to a lesbo trying to convince us that she and her other lesbo are a normal family.
Most of my college education (Computer Science, which is in the College of Engineering at the U of Illinois, and which therefore had some associated Engineering courses). I have never and will never design a circuit - I'm a software guy.
problem solving last year.
i'm in the gifted program, but i am the FARTHEST thing from gifted when it comes to numbers (i seriousley still use my fingers to add things), and in this class they were taking practice SAT's. i was like... "I couldn't do the PSSA's, I REALLY can't do the SAT's"
Ornithology!
planning. do we really need teachers to teach us how to live out our lives after high school?
Id have to say that Com. Arts is the most useless subject who the hell needs to know about poetry?! If you fell poetry is important than go fuck yourself!
I would think every subject I have taken in school is useful. However I could consider "Art" as the less useful of all.
When I was at high school we had a lesson called 'Forum'. It was like sitting in a mini cinema once a week where we'd watch short film progammes, totally pointless but good fun!
A-L-G-E-B-R-A and GEOMETRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
history. who needs history, past is past, so get over it. they should teach what happens now, such as the economy.
chemistry as I never used it anywhere throughout my entire life.
Mormon Seminary classes. (We were allowed to take them for school credit in Jr High and High School).
A total waste of time and resources.
Economics as I ended up in the fine arts field and never applied anything I couldn't remember anyway from that class!
My general engineering class was the most useless class I have ever taken because we spent the entire semester converting units of measurement(hopefully by the time you are a college student you are capable of doing unit conversions without an entire semester of practice).
Answering my own question... I think it would be Physics. There are very few practical daily applications that I could think of for it. It might be a good subject for college, but not for high school [which is when we were taught the godforsaken stuff].
Whatever calculations we might need in life is already covered by basic Math [and Trigonometry, and Algebra]. Besides, what good does it do if you can calculate the velocity of a 3-pound hammer falling directly over your foot but not be able to avoid it? I'd prefer a subject that teaches common sense.
Maths - when are we ever going to use sin cos tan in our lives??
History
sewing
There is really none. They all have some importance.
it was woodcraft in my class sixth.
Nothing, every class is useful in some way. If it was useless it wouldn't be a class.
One word. LATIN.
