If women want to be considered equal why do we put ourselves down with gossip and being jugemental over every thing?

Do you consider that putting us down? Or just being who we are? There is a great theme amongst feminist research of using Autobiography as a means of capturing and recording experiences. This is used because it is a natural way for women to record their stories - sitting chatting round the kitchen table is a way of passing on history in an oral tradition, writing diaries is a method of preserving those stories for future generations. By gossiping we are communicating - and that is a key feature of what it is to be a women. As for being judgemental - that is a general human trait - not just one for women Ps..I loved reading Nora Seaton's the Kitchen Congregation

Good question. Here are some reasons why. 1.Some women gossip because they don't want to face their own issues or problems. 2. They lead boring, sad, pathetic lives so they gossip to compensate for this monotony. 3.Low self-esteem, jealousy, and envy towards the person they are talking about. 4.A sad form or entertainment.

i think that's a pretty inaccurate generalization. if this is the impression you have of women, then you are not surrounding yourself with goal-oriented, achieving women. i know the type of woman your are talking about, but the women i associate with are intellectual, kind, non-judgmental, fun to hang out with, and great communicators. i think some women gossip because they aren't really exposed to another way to communicate - after all, the stereotype is a gossipy woman. i mean, there's really no formal education on what topics you should discuss with your friends, so if you have nothing to discuss or debate, you just talk about what you know and experience - other people. as far as being judgemental, pretty much everyone is guilty of that until they conciously make an effort to not be judgemental. it's not a gender thing.
