my daughter brought an acquaintance by our home and he ended up ripping off our house. When I saw him I was a little shocked because he had tatoos all over his face. I try not to judge a book by its cover and was polite and even offered food and drink. He turned out to be a gang member and had been in trouble since he was 12. He apologized for his looks and said because the tatoos were gang related he could have them taken off for free and he seemed like he was turning his life around. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. If I would have judged him by his looks I would never have let him in my house. So, should we judge people by their looks?

Its human nature to be emotionally affected by another person's appearance - its how you choose to behave and the choices you make that are all the difference.

Reading your explaination, it sounds like that person is used to taking advantage of our society's permissive culture. Honestly, you did the right thing by not being judgemental about someone, but sometimes if it looks like a duck...

I probably would have felt the same and wound up losing the cash too.

Yes, looks always play a part in our first opinion. What I generally do in that case is withhold my opinion till I have had a chance to judge them overall. We form our opinions on the overall impact a person has on all our senses so it is very natural that what we see, hear and even smell will give us our first impressions.
