I think it is true! It is so much easier to open up to someone when you are not face to face with them, you cannot see their reaction, and dont have to worry that they would judge your reaction. But another part of it is that it is a whole lot easier to lie online, little white lies are nothing, especially when you are talking to people in chat rooms that dont know you in "real life"

it is real. it is easier to tell someone something if you are not looking at them or know them. with the internet, some teens see it as a way to vent. especially since most people don't know you and won't have a biased opinion.

Its easier to be anonymous online. There's much more on the line when you open up to someone in person.

I think it's quite true, and not just for teens but for many people in general. Online there is not only a sense of anonymity but also the fear of rejection is not as real. You can create your own persona and no one would know the truth. You can be what you cannot be in real life.
