I think it's best to go to a doctor for this. I know it's embarassing to ask, but doctors have heard questions like this one (this exact one in fact) and they can check for conditions that need treatment. I'm not in the medical profession, but I know enough about things to know that you could possibly have some nerve damage somewhere or a growth of some sort pressing somewhere, that could cause you to have the feeling of needing to void your bowels even when material is not there to be voided. It's best for your own health and your own peace of mind to ask a doctor about this. You could ask your general practioner, or your gynecologist if you go to one. Believe me, they won't even blink an eye at the question - their only concern will be in making sure you don't have any conditions that require treatment. There was an ad concerning colonoscopies years ago that said something to the effect of, "please don't die of embarassment." I think that phrase is suitable here. It's not normal to feel the urge to go so often, when there is not anything to be voided, and it indicates there is some kind of problem which might even be a serious problem. Please do go see your doctor.
