I've watched relatives lose their small companies. First, having to take paycuts and then lay off employees. It's only a matter of time before bankruptcy hits. What's worse, they have no retirement, as they took their 401K and invested it in the company to start it up. Not that it makes a difference now, 401K have lost much of their value as well. Either way you see it, they're screwed.

The hospital that I work for is cutting the budgets of the department managers. Also, I have heard that they have put a hold on raises but I don't know how true this is. They are making other changes due to the recession, but I don't know of them. . The census in the hospital has stayed up all winter, therefore, I was surprised to see the measures that are being taken. It must have something to do with the patients' insurance - I don't know what's changed.
