Yes. Truthfulness is whether or not your words are true/accurate. Honesty can go into whether or not you steal, for instance.

2 a : fairness and straightforwardness of conduct b : adherence to the facts : SINCERITY

    Main Entry: truth·ful
    Pronunciation: 'trüth-f&l
    Function: adjective
: telling or disposed to tell the truth

    G'day Eddie1,

    Thank you for your question.

They are closely related. However, honesty is a broader concept. Truthfulness means that you tell the truth when asked. Honesty means that you act fairly as well such as not stealing or cheating in an exam.

If you cheated in an exam and told people, you would be truthful but not honest. Generally, people who do not act fairly lie in order to cover it up so a distinction is not necessary.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Honesty describes your character and determines how truthful you are. Truthfulness is the act of being honest. Honesty is about fairness, integrity, trust, doing the right thing, being a good person, whereas truthfulness simply deals with not lying. They are very similar words and can be used in place of one another to get across the same meaning but their real meanings differ slightly. Honesty is genearlly something that you believe to be right whereas truthfulness is just stating a fact that you may not necessarily agree with.

    Yes.

Honesty means telling ALL of the truth. Truthfulness usually implies telling the truth about what you're being asked about.

    i think...

honest, honesty is like a character of person. it's an action word or a behaviour word.

Truth is information describing actual and real events, things or concepts.

like when you watched a movie with another girl, this is information or truth.

when you're girlfriend ask where the hell you were yesterday and told her you watch movie with another girl, you are honest.

so you get a slap for being honest, for telling the truth.

so honest or honesty is more like an action or attribute or character of a person.

while truth is valid information. truthfulness is the habit of giving out valid info.

    my thoughts.

    Absolutely.

    You can't trust honest people.

But truthfull people can be trusted.

honesty only cares about lies. Truth cares about honesty on a broader lever only, small lies for the goodness is possible as long at the big honest is revealed.

If we are to see that even though you may be honest in what you know you may still not be telling the truth.

Truthfulness is a virtue whereas honesty is a trait. I tell the truth so I am honest. Honesty is an umbrella term that implies many things, truthfulness being one of them. Whereas truthfulness is more specific. Hope that helps :).
