  • Rubbing a bruise increases the circulation through the injured area, which aids in the reabsorbtion of the blood cells which caused the bruise. As for rubbing it: people (and animals) often 'rub' or touch their injuries. There are some theories regarding the release of endorphins in injuries which may relate to this. Sources?
