wanting a family does not equate to not having a goal... I'm not one of these women but i found this question a little offensive.

God I hope it's not common. I've seen so many that think having a baby is such a wonderful thing. They have no idea that it's actually a tremendous amount of work for a creature that is now wholly dependant on you for it's very life and will show you absolutely no gratitude. They have no plans for income or housing. Just want to make a human with no idea how to raise it. Get a damn job first! Make yourself a stable environment to raise children before leaving them stuck with you in a hell hole.

I guess so and those kinds of women are a threat to my dating pool because I never want children. I wish there be more younger women out there who chose not to breed and when they get older, they won't change their mind on this stupid issue.

Blackberry, you're trying to weigh logic against the drive for survival. Throughout most of human history, life expectancy was about 36 years. If you didn't have babies in your teens, you wouldn't live long enough to bring them to an age where they could sustain themselves. Our complex society and long life expectancy today demands something quite different. So does overpopulation and dwindling resources and mass pollution threatening the very ecosystems it takes to support life of every kind on earth. But it takes education, logic and thought to see all that. It takes nothing but yielding to the powerful urges to reproduce and survive to ignore today's imperatives, and follow survival tendencies that have evolved in humans over millions of years and will take eons more to change.

For some women, a family is their goal.

I think the high school girls that are having babies don't have any goals and that does contribute to their desire to have a baby. Some don't have a clue what is going to come after high school, so being a mommy looks like a good deal because in many cases, they won't have to be responsible for themselves or the baby. If they were looking forward to college they would probably chose to wait until they could provide for the baby and wait until they met someone they wanted to spend their lives with.

Getting pregnant is a goal, just like becoming a painter, or killing all the Jews. Just because you don't like them, doesn't make them not goals. If someone strives to accomplish them, then they are goal oriented. Of course, if they fail to get pregnant, then they're just quitters.
