i loved it! the people are very kind, the city and buildings are beautiful, and there are fun museums and amazing restaurants. i wouldn't reccommend staying for more than about four days though, because you might tire of museums or run out of things to do. and if you go, you absolutely must visit Unlimited Delicious chocolate shop!

Yes. The first time I stayed at the Intercontinental Amstel there. That part of town is lovely and picturesque. There is a thriving theatre district and beatiful walks and parks. The last few times I've been there I've stayed at the Krasnapolski. It's my husband's favorite because it's in the middle of everything. It's exciting and bustling BUT smells like urine and puke in the streets and near the water. It's not as clean and the heroin users are thick after dark. There is, however, much shopping and reasonably priced restaurants. I've heard they are cleaning up the area, but I haven't been back since. I hope that is the case.
