... Absolutely ... In order to open a very special one of the doors of the temple, a hot heavy item had to be placed on top of a "hydraulic ram" consisting of a perfect stone cylinder column inside a set of large stone blocks with a perfect hole drilled in it, and filled with a plant oil ... the top of the stone column was tightly gripped inside a "bi-metal strip locking band" that would hold the column above the oil filled hole ... when the large pot filled with burning coals was place on the pedestal, it heated the metal bands, the bands expanded and dropped the stone column into the oil, the "hydraulic ram" would then use this force to unlock and open the door ... the pot was designed to burn scar the person who lifted & moved the hot pot, and only special graduating monks were allowed to leave via this special door, so only those with the scars could be positively identified as genuine monks, and thus be allowed the Imperial Chinese legal rights, as well as be allowed to lead, teach, and guide the Chinese people in spiritual endeavors ...
