  • Yes they are. Children who can estimate better when they are young excel in maths. Left-brained people excel in art/creativity and practical learning. Right-brained people excel in science and theoretical learning. Generally speaking, what people are good at is what they enjoy, and what people enjoy are what they are good at. A topic/career may look nice from the outside, but if it doesn't match your personality you simply aren't going to get much enjoyment out of it in the long run.
  • If you want to persue a career in a field other than your strong points, you will have to work even harder while you are in school. But it is do-able.
  • Even though i had an interest in the arts (Graphics Designer) i had great aptitude in science (Im a Civil Engineer). I pursued Graphics Design as a career but i somehow always managed to find myself doing Engineering.
  • I am far more artistic than I am good at math. Math and Science have always been a huge struggle for me. However the job I have fallen into involves a lot of math and statistics and the more I do it the better/easier it is but Im not happy with it. Im sure if you want to pursue a career in the opposite of what you are good at you will achieve it, just stick at it.
  • I took the SATs in my Junior and Senior year in HS. I had a REALLY good English teacher in my Junior year. In my senior year, I had fascinating courses in upper level math and Chemistry, which I absolutely loved. I scored 100 points more on English in my Jr. Year than Sr, but 100 points more in Math/Science in my Sr. year than my Junior. Fortunately, they count the higher score from either test, so I darn near aced the SATs. But that shows me that level of interest and engagement has a lot to do with it.
