Help answer this question below.
I don't know about "getting you into trouble", but it seems any question or answer about politics or religion is guaranteed to get you a DR from somebody. It is strange that someone who disagrees with you enough to give a minus to your response would not simply comment...and explain their disagreement. I think these people are basically sock-puppets who are also illiterate. It is called "knee-jerk" reaction. They cannot really say why they disagree...they just disagree...but don't know why.
Commenting. There are certain types that use the comments as bait to get others in trouble
Answering, having an opinion.
probably answering bloody religious questions lol
Stalking.
I know at least two users who have been banned for stalking other users.
anything that has to do with politics and/or religion!!!!
The trolls are the most trouble I have learned by my short time on here lol. But think its comment or answering, esp touchy subjects as beliefs.
How about giving dubious sexual answers to kids. I've seen a lot of that lately.
I say the arguing in the comment threads.
I guess it depends on the person.
I can find trouble in any of those things.:)
From my experience/observation it can be any of those things. Each person chooses his/her own weapon..now, anonymous ratings (DR's) get no one in trouble because you never know the source. Other than that, you pays your money and makes your choice and takes your chances! Happy Friday sm00z! :) ((hugs))
I would say being too agressive or using profanity gets people in the most trouble. I know that I don't like seeing questions that are threatening or abusive.
What about spamming? I would imagine spamming gets you in trouble and banned pretty quickly.
I seem to get most problems by answering questions and making comments that are open and honest.......
Just being myself...
Any and all of the items you've mentioned are doorways to trouble. But, I think some of the comment threads get people there the fastest.
Heated and profane words used in comment threads.
I would say comments and DR because i think it happens more ;0)
Should AB have a disclaimer/caution to hyper sensitive people regarding the questions and answers here?

You're reading Which AB activity do you think gets people into the most trouble: asking, answering, commenting, rating, sockpuppetry, stalking, or other things?
Comments
Yes, those notorious down-raters seem to open many of those short-lived anonymous accounts. I guess down-rating is their perversion.

Well, it is easy and requires no thought process.

I was wondering the same thing yesterday. I recieved several DR's in a row and the first one was on a question related to why answers to religious questions sometimes get such long answers containing loads of scripture. There was no comment on any of them. Obviously someone didn't like the question, but decided that they shouldn't give their opinion. I wanted to hear their opinion. That's why I asked the question. I feel slighted if someone doesn't tell me how they feel when they obviously have strong feelings about the subject.

Yeah, I know, cynthia, it works both ways. People can't seem to enter a discussion about religion in a straightforward way. You get both the vehemently evangelical, and the vehemently anti-religious. That is why I avoid all questions on the subject anymore. It is just not productive. At least not on AB. Too bad. This should be one place where it could be discussed intelligently.

I might try to participate in more political or religious questions just to try and understand how people have come to have such extreme positions. If I get downrated along the way, I hope that someone will intelligently explain why they think like they do before they give negative points back.
by cynthia on December 20th, 2008
(smile) Go for it. But I am not hopeful that they will. You will be one of the few to be "accepted" in a friendly way by either "segment". "Moderation" is usually attacked by both sides.

Even if I'm not accepted, I might learn something about people along the way. :D
