No, it is not a religion. It is a "fraternal organisation", a group of people who get together regularly in a club and practice rituals whose only function, basically, is to confirm their membership of the club. Apart from a general duty to help fellow masons, there are no great duties upon Freemasons. Freemasonry has no particular religious values other than the acknowledgement of a Divine Power of dome fairly undefined sort. But, while not inherently sinister, freemasonry provides a framework in which sinister things can develop. There have been various scandals which have revolved around Masonic lodges - but they were local scandals inside lodges not a function of masonry itself. Basically, it is a grown-up, well-off, upper middle class version of boys and teenagers gangs. A group of people get together in "my gang" to feel superior to "others" who are not in the gang, and have passwords, special clothing, and rituals which define membership of the gang.

A secret society with a luciferian-worship agenda. My 2 cents. http://www.illuminati-news.com/Articles/67.html
