It sucks pretty hard. I seldom get a worthwhile answer for questions I ask, and in some sections if you ask a question which just barely hints at some level of impropriety you risk getting the question deleted and your account suspended (or, rather, deleted). I like AnswerBag better.

Until I looked at yahoo answers, I thought it was physically impossible to suck and blow at the same time.

It sucks really bad. Last week I got a Violation notice for an answer that closed almost a year ago. I haven't even used YA in 5 months and I am still getting VN's. Over there you basically couldn't say anything at all because if 1 person reported it..it was a VN..no verification..nothing and if you tried to appeal..they didn't even look at it but they took away 10 points just because you CHOSE to appeal. If you said something about their "unfairness" they accused you of reporting yourself and getting yourself in trouble. WTF is with that? I am surprised they are still in business.

It really boils down to the categories you tend to hang in. I could also say that some categories here absolutely suck. Depends on what you're looking to get out of either site.
