  • No, absolutely not! Species are disappearing from the planet at an alarming rate. Zoos may soon become the land-locked equivalent of arks, preserving species which have become extinct in the wild until such time as we come to our senses and realize that we are suppose to PROTECT life, not eliminate it.
  • No. That would be an unjust generalization, although some zoos do a better job at simulating natural habitat than others.
  • No, I don't. A friend of mine was saying that apparently gorillas live longer in the wild, because we haven't figured out how to care for them well enough (I don't know where she got this, so take it with a grain of salt) and she was saying that we should really just leave them be in the wild if that's the case. Well, I said, given all the issues with poaching, deforestation, etc, this is sortof better. No it isn't, she said. Okay, no, no it's not. But we have the option of leaving them in crap situation A, or taking them into crap situation B, and at least with crap situation B, they might still *exist* when we've repaired crap situation A.
  • Keep the Zoos, they are great! There are very few economical things left for families.
  • No I don't... Not if the zoo acts as a nursery to provide a dying species a chance at future generations of survival and thriving. Like in China with the Pandas... If they are irresponsable and cruel. then yes, of course they should! *Please see my question and tell me what you think. http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/4767017
  • Yes they should be turned into exotic restrants, I've always liked the taste of a wild beaver.
  • Some Zoos take really good care of the animals !!
  • No I don't thingk that zoos should bwe shut down for the simple matter that they house a lot of animales that would other wise be killed. Zoos are the only life that many animals know and any thing otherr would be a slow death, for these animals have no idea of how to look after them selfs. So zoos are not the best but in many cases it is the only pratical solution for many animalst on the bring of extinction. There it is and therre it will stay, Oh by the way where did yyou see my questions posted? because I seen your name up on a friends forum
  • I think Zoo's educate people, and honestly probably do more to protect animals than without Zoo's.
  • No keep the zoos but we could work on preserving habitat so there could be more wild animals ;0)
  • I have thought about this a lot and I see two sides to it. I think that zoos are good for the people. I've thought that it is cruel to the animals though. I also realize that the animals are well taken care of, kind of like pets. Some of the animals might even think that they are special, one of few to have the privilege of being an attraction to the people. Some might feel like they are in prison. The thing is though that they are lacking some important things that wild animals have like family and being free. I don't think the zoos should be closed down. It's much better than being killed by humans like so many of them are in the wild. There aren't that many animals in zoos compared to how many of them there are in the wild so I don't think it is too much harm. Also endangered animals might be bred in zoos too which is a good thing for their species.
  • I have never been to a zoo that didn't make me sad for the animals...in one zoo, the white snow bear had mold on his fur from his water and the tigers seemed so sad and no room to walk....I would like to keep zoos, but make them bigger....Actually the zoo in hawaii was a good zoo. I liked that one.
