Question

Help answer this question below.

I have just heard that someone I know has been offered $20,000 to go to another country and marry a girl (sight unseen) to bring her back to Canada as his wife. What, if anything, should I do? (MYOB is one option).

I do not understand how someone getting married like that is your business.

Why would you have to do anything?

Wait and see what happens. If this person actually shows up with a strange woman, do something about it. Luckily, immigration has many requirements and unless they are both prepared to be interviewed and have studied each others info, they will fail and she will be denied immigration status. Regardless, if you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem. If you have any evidence that she does make it to Canada and it is not just talk, take it to the INS department. Our country is beautiful and we need to protect it.

go with your gut feeling (stated in the OP) and unless the person who got the marriage offered is an extremely close friend or relative, mind your own damn business.
