If you ask your question in "search for answers", you will get pages of similar questions.

Some of the "duplicates " are pretty obscure . But doing as Sweet T suggests does help

type in your key words only and see what comes up before posing a question. sometimes if two questions have the 'relatively same' meaning, the second will be marked duplicate. not a perfect system, i agree, but it's user monitored. if it helps, it's happened to all of us....

Many of us use the "Search for Answers" first before answering and find similar questions that way. It works much better than the box and you have more results to look through. Often it will bring up similar questions that have a different word for one of your words. It sure saves the hassle or disappointment if it gets flagged instead.
