  • Best schools for Archeology are in Indiana, best book is "Me and the Lost Ark" by Dr. Indy Ana. Jones
  • Archeology is a subfield of Anthropology, and while you will take a few more classes directed toward Archeology, you will take a lot of Cultural and Physical (and a couple Linguistic) Anthro classes, also. So make sure you enjoy the whole subject of Anthro...Cultural (cultures, customs, relationships...), Biological (evolution of humans, bacteria...), Linguistic (focuses on comparing languages cross-culturally), and Archeology (basically just digging up the remnants that the other disciplines found, i.e. possible cooking utensils, tools, ancient fossils... Most people picture Indiana Jones when the term "Archaeologist" is uttered, however, let me stress that it is NOT like that AT ALL. Probably only about 10% of their time is spent doing fieldwork, the other 90% is spent back at the lab and office. I'll be going into my fourth year at a University in California, majoring in Anthro...
  • one of the best school in new york for archeology is Hunter college. it's kinda hard to get into, but not if you have good grades. i just got accepted for the archeology program starting in the fall. they also have a combined archeology ba/ma program. it's part of CUNY, so it's very inexpensive. it's one of new york's top colleges. tuition runs less then 2,500 per semester. it's more money for nonresidents of new york. they're very picky and approx only 1/3 of students get accepted, but then again having Hunter College on your resume will open a lot of doors. it's as close as you will get to a private education but without paying an arm and a leg. you also have several world famous museums in new york that offer internships and summer jobs for hunter college archeology students.
  • your first move should be reading about EXACTLY what archeologists do. culture has it glamourised. its basically a glorified digger, because an archeologist cannot give information about what they find unless they are also a historian. i found that out just in time and dropped archeology and am now doing my masters in history
