  • If done properly, probably yes. If not done properly, it is less humane. If done properly, the neck is snapped high up and normal brain function appears to cease instantaneously. If the neck is not broken, then the victim is effectively strangled by their own weight, which may take a couple of minutes and is probably pretty unpleasant.
  • no i dont agrre with this, it happens quick but how would you feel if you was stood there waiting to be hung, anyway it snaps your neck so no i wouldnt say it was one of the more humane ways to put a person to death.
  • it seems that sometimes they die a quick painless death. sometimes they might die a horrible death that might take time.
  • A snapped neck might be preferable to a slow strangulation. But until one actually gets to be executed, I wouldn't call any form of execution "humane". It's like asking if a cattle prod is a high voltage or a low voltage device. Such is often determined by which end of the prod one is on.
