I had some Spanish rice this a.m. for breakfast. It contained some dried pigeon peas in it. I don't know about this "black eyes peas" thing you are talking about. If it has to do with good luck or some type of voo doo thing, you can be assured that I will not participate in it. I tend to keep my money in my wallet and not in my dishes.

In my family the black-eyed peas tradition goes back generations, but I never heard of the dime part. I did have black-eyed peas last night, with ham hocks.
