  • Your friend may be suffering from Hypochondriasis, which is the constant fear that they have an illness. If she's truly concerned, then tell her to see a doctor and talk about her problems. They will run the necessary tests and determine if she needs heart medication, or psychiatric help.
  • I agree with steelstr45, but also want to mention that if there was a recent death or heart related illness in her family, or close family friend, that could cause this also. I experienced a similar thing when I was young. If that is the case, assurance by a doctor that she is a+ healthy will help.
  • Most probably it could be anxiety stress. Should go for psychiatric counseling
  • You could try telling her that that statistically the odds of a heart attack at 14 are NIL or slightly lower. However there are many other possible causes of numbness/tingling "for no reason" and that should be checked out.
  • My oldest daughter is 14 & talk about a drama queen so I've heard just about everything possible. However, your friend's numbness can be serious. There is a chance it could be diabetic related. Has she mentioned this to her parents? If not, you need persuade her to just in case...
  • Even if she is OK, she should talk to a doctor and be screened. Like someone suggested, diabetes can cause tingling. So can anxiety. Both of these are medical conditions - even thought the first is also a psychological condition. Preoccupation with ones health is also a treatable condition. The treatment, in that case, may be counseling. Perhaps all she needs is to be reassured by her doctor.
