Question

Help answer this question below.

If this is your first time filing taxes, what is the best way to go? Especially, being that I am 17 and have had three jobs this year alone. Do I still need my mom's information if (a) I don't live with her and (b) don't depend on her finacially?

Assuming that you have no dependents, no self-employment income, and no need to itemize deductions, you probably only need the 1040EZ form. Once you begin completing it, it will become readily apparent if you need a more complex form. When in doubt, I do recommend either TurboTax or TaxCut. Either one will probably guide you easily through the entire process using the best forms and finding any possible deductions.
