Go to Profile & Activity and then Account settings.

Step by step: On the homepage, go to your upper right. Click on the blue bar called (view my profile and activity) Then goto My Settings. Then go to the Nickname setting (enter new user name) Then press the submit button near the lower right. Now you have a new name. You're welcome.
