Well, to this American, British English sounds cultured, German sounds proud or arrogant, French sounds romantic, Mexican Spanish sounds simultaneously fast and somewhat lazy, Italian sounds excited and Russians sound like they are plotting something. Korean sounds harsh and guttural, Chinese & Japanese both sound unpleasantly singsong. What do we sound like to other people? What do other Americans think of this list? What do British think of it? Oh, and many southern Americans sound--I apologize for this, because I know it isn't true--less educated. Lots of languages, however, don't "sound" like anything except gibberish.
