Wow...with all the Christian concepts in this question, it really should be under the Christian section. Not all religions believe in Hell or a requirement to accept Deity. The standard Christian answer to a question such as yours is that God gives each person free will to do as he/she chooses. In the Christian dogma, you must accept God of your own free will. Of course, if you then exercise your free will, you are punished eternally in Hell. So, one must question if people are truly given free will, or merely the illusion of it.

Just thinking out loud here.... But perhaps God is in the hearts, minds and spirits of all children at birth. They seem so innocent and divine themselves. Perhaps time, experience and pain distance them from this connection. Just a thought, not doctrine..........

Its called free will. God is not going to force you to love him or even acknowledge him. Does your mom force you to love her?

our god is not a forceful god. he lets us choose the way we are. if you read the bible very carefully, god tells us it is our right to do whatever we want, but we must face the consequences for our actions. god doesn't sent us to hell, we send ourselves there by rejecting him. this supports my philosophy as well as the bible's words that we can do whatever we want, but there are consequences for our actions.
