entertainment people love to be entertained so if you find anyone who is good at entertaining, you will find popularity that goes for sports, music, movies, etc even weird-looking people are 'idolized' if they can entertain (amy winehouse, anyone?)

They look good and they are rich. I think most people, if not all, want good looks and money. Hollywood has those things.
