  • Preparing you to make the right decisions and making your friends feel unwelcome are two different things. Is there a reason she doesn't like them other than that they are male? Are they good, mature kids? Maybe you should talk to a counselor about family behavior.
  • You're old enough to set some boundaries. Try this: "Mom, your behavior toward my friends is not acceptable. I'm old enough to decide for myself who my friends will be. It is not OK for you to be disrespectful to them." She'll probably react -- she sounds like someone who doesn't know what boundaries are, and is used to abusing them. But you have to stand up for yourself and your rights, even when dealing with your own mother. That's just life.
  • What does she think she is protecting you from, getting hurt by men, or getting pregnant? You dont have to bring your friends there, to be treated that way. Soon you will be moving out on your own, so this wont be an issue.
