  • MSG is a system message that you use to send messages to users on a server. If you are running a Terminal server and have multiple users on at once you can send a message to one using MSG <USER-LOGIN-NAME> Your Message. NET SEND is to send a message over the network to another host computer. To use NET SEND windows Messenger service needs to be enabled (XP and later turned this off because people figure out ways to spam using it). You would type NET SEND \name-of-receiving-computer Your Message.
