I think you'd be walking a very fine line which you'd probably do best to step back from. Any emotions being spent in that online relationship would surely be better invested with your s/o. The term "playing with fire" comes immediately to mind.

I won't pass judgement on you. I will simply say that, if you are in a relationship where you cannot be totally honest, or the person won't meet your (realistic) needs, then some serious therapy needs to be introduced. Otherwise, what is the point of being in it if it cannot be salvaged? Yes, dear....it is cheating. Sorry.

I would say its cheating, but on the other hand what if you have opened yourself up to your s/o and they are too busy to listen to you. Then you kinda say you dont want to leave this person but you have needs, so you turn to someone else to talk to and open up to. Like stated, there is a fine line. Just because you want to have an emotional relationship with an online friend that doesnt mean you want to find them and have a physical relationship.

No I wouldn't. I think that everyone does that to some extent and at one time or another. It is human and it makes one feel less... Hopeless when Mr or Mrs right doesn't act right toward you. If you actually act on something like that... then yes, it is cheating. People forget that Cheating is a verb... Which implies if nothing else... action.

yes it is cheating, infact it is worse as with a one night stand its just a night of passion, no strings adulterous sex with no feelings involved. to become emotionally involved with somebody over a period of time is just about as bad as an affair.
