  • you can either ignore them or get away from the person/people who are acting negatively towards you. i find that it always works to have firm boundaries and let people (i trust) know when they are hurting my feelings. its always better to work through it than to ignore it but sometimes it just isn´t worth it, so you have to decide.
  • The only place I ever get negative comments is on Answerbag, where a minority of people fail to understand that my opinion is as valid as theirs. I try to have a discussion, but if I fail I just move on. I can't imagine how the words of somebody with a closed mind could have any effect on me.
  • Did you know that a duck never gets wet even though it lives most of its life in the water? Imagine that you are a duck or better still a lovely swan in a beautiful pond!! and dont let the negative comments effect you.
  • you may not always be able to stop yourself from feeling hurt, and honestly i think maybe that shouldn't be your goal. the real goal, i think, is to figure out WHY you feel hurt by it, by asking yourself questions like "in what ways is this statement/person/situation even valid to me, or pertinent to my life?" most of the time i find by looking at things objectively and not letting the emotion of the moment overwhelm you, you become stronger and as time goes on you get hurt far less easily.
