Do you realize that the trick of religion is to make people believe that they lack something, and then make them believe that you have what they think they are lacking? It's the oldest trick in the book and it has been going on for thousands of years.

You figured that out by yourself? It's also the oldest trick in sales and politics. Find a need and fill it. Better still create a need and fill it. It's not just religion, it's human nature.

You are correct yet incorrect. IF we are indeed complete and whole, then religion is, indeed, like any marketing ploy (why do we need many different types of soap/washing powder/milk etc?) But IF we are not complete and whole, and a single glance at society shows us that- then perhaps we DO need some help.

Yes I do. It´s best illustrated by the questions and personality tests of scientology (I filled one of those out for fun and sent it as ´L. Ron Hubbard´, they are still thiking their leader will come back soon, and they even have a room for him in every scientology building). They ask you hundreds of questions that make you feel like your bad at many things, and then they promise to have everything you need and to make a perfect person out of you. Somehow your even supposed to become a god and populate the a new planet at the end.
