I'm not anything vaguely resembling a liberal democrat; but the things that America stands for anger me. I'm not talking about what America claims to stand for - "peace, justice, freedom!!!" but what you see when you look at what americans actually do. America stands for entertainment. It is our biggest export and the one thing we spend the most money on. American stands for instant gratification. Not fifty years after a meal could take eight hours to make, we find ourselves pacing iompatiently in front of the three-minute microwave. We want what we want and we want it now. America stands for "say that money should be given to those in need, but refuse to be the one to set an example." Need I elaborate. American stands for freedom of speech, so long as I'm not offended. America stands for empty religion. I am a Christian; but American Christianity sucks. The Bible is cool, so long as we don't have to do what it says. No wonder the rest of our culture looks at us and cries "hypocrites!" America stands for selfishness at whatever cost. "Put yourself first" "Do what's good for YOU." We will backstab, lie, steal, and even kill in our pursuit to improve our own lives and our own interests. I can't tell yu how many movies start out with the main character trying to help people, but his life is "empty" and "boring" until he finally starts looking out for himself instead of others. Since when did selflessness become an character flaw? As I said. I am not a liberal democrat; but I can't stand what we represent. Maybe I'll move to Fiji?
