  • Advocate for her and talk to the manager of the complex.
  • Does she qualify for a handicapped space, if so the complex has to provide one (create it if nessasary)
  • she has back problems and has a hard time walking at times..and this really disturbs me that the complex does not have enough spaces for everyone living there..common sense would tell me not to have more people living there than you have parking spaces..so now what is she supposed to do in the winter when its icy outside or what if its storming out..and what if she has a whole bunch of groceries to carry? this really bothers me alot..I dont understand how they get way with this..its not like these are well bodied people its a senior complex for goodness sakes! I want to do something about this but she does not want me to make a big stink about it...but it just does not seem right!!
  • yes she does never heard of an apartment complex not having assigned parking at least one spot for each apartment, they are suppose to zone for that, call the association and find out your rights.
  • well maybe you should go talk to the manger of the complex, and show that you care! =)
  • I know a women who rented an apt in a city and she was disabled and at least 25% of the residents in that complex were disabled. The complex itself had no parking. Management told her that it wasn't their responsiblity to find her a place to park. Because her apt was located downtown near the capital city, the only parking places by her complex were reserved for 'state employees". The only parking lot she could find and she had to pay for it was 4 blocks away. They told her that she would have to park 4 blocks away and then pay for a taxi to the complex or walk. It sucked because she couldn't live there and it was a great apt. I don't know that she can make them do anything. Can she park on the street in front? I hope it works for her
  • My Mother-In-Law doesn't have a spot either, but that is because she does not have a car anymore. When she did, she had a spot. You know, there is a way to do this without making a "big stink". You could call and inquire about an apartment for your mom or dad. Ask if there is parking available.
  • Did they claim that they had parking available for her when she signed the lease? Does the lease state that she has an assigned parking spot? If not, then they made no claim to have parking available for her. I don't know of any laws that require an apartment building to provide parking for their tenants. It is unfortunate that she needs to park so far away - but shouldn't that have been something she checked into before she moved in?
