  • they are the most intriguing? or the more intrusive perhaps
  • Hey yeah, That is what I want to know. What's up with that anyway? You can always ask perryman when he comes to your door you know. How many answerbaggers will come to your door and answer your questions? Talk about value added service, I offer "take out" and home delivery.
  • I think it is because they are very visible and have controversial beliefs.
  • I think its just that there is less common knowledge about that belief system. It's not something that is well known. Where as we all grew up with classmates and friends that would describe themselves as Catholics, Christians or Jews... I didn't grow up with too many JWs around. People just have questions about things with which they are unfamiliar.
  • I have directly asked several questions about Jehova's Witnesses, so I can answer your question on why I have. The first one was because of a member called ordained_minister, a Jehova's Witness, proseltyzing to me on his own question. The question, incidentally, called my religion "false". More recently, I have asked more general questions about the beliefs of Jehova's Witnesses, because a Christian of another denomoniation was posting questions that stated some alleged beliefs of the Jehova's Witnesses in a negative light. I wanted to know what was true and what was not.
  • It's only fairly recently that their tactics have stopped being in-your-face challenging, critical, confrontational and self-righteous. I've been talking to one who's apparently read Dale Carnegie (haven't heard my first name so many times since kindergarten), and it's been pleasant enough; but the fact is that the purpose of their organization is to convert you into another unpaid, unquestioning slave whose only purpose in life is to serve the organization. They are also Gnostics--know-it-alls--and are convinced that they are right, and everyone else is wrong. You can't tell them anything; you can only ask them questions. Even the most chauvinistic Christian denomination thinks that they are just a little more right than everyone else, but JW's are convinced that they have the whole truth and nothing but. This despite the numerous false prophecies that the organization has made--just Google "Jehovah's Witness false prophecies" and you'll get exact quotations from their own writings about exact dates for the end of the world. Which they carefully cover up in the SECOND edition of the books they made the prophecies in. The Bible, incidentally, holds any prophet to a 100% accuracy standard. Prophets aren't allowed to be wrong in their predictions. (Deuteronomy 18:21- 22.)
  • There are some here that are targeting JW's because of the difference in our beliefs from theirs.
  • I see a lot of questions relating to Mormons, Buddhists and even Catholic faiths. I think this statement is not exactly correct if you look at the big picture.
  • The JW's seem to be the only true christians out their. I believe a lot of people who refuse to follow in Jesus footsteps torment them because they are true christians, and they live very clean lives. They are no part of this world.
  • Maybe people are searching for truth. The Witnesses seem to go by the book very closely, that is the Bible.
  • Good question considering many have oppurtunity to ask them in person when they show up at your door.
  • Because the people asking the questions were sleeping when the Jehovah's Witnesses came to their and now they are mad. HA HA!
  • there are thousands of quesations asked about other denominations...believe me
  • They are intriguing. I sometimes wonder if they actually read the New Testament. I am puzzled by many of their doctrines or beliefs. I wonder what is going on in their heades. Are they really convinced or are they just following? I am still not sure. I ask to enlighten myself, and they answer very unclear and rehersed to questions regarding the arch-angel Michael and Jesus. I try to figure out the mind set and I get answers straight from their own publications. Maybe thats why. Because when you ask a question about JWs their answer leads to more questions. We can remember Jesus said once we drink the water of life(which is himself) we will never thurst again. Their water leaves you parched. sorry
  • I think it is partly because when they call at the homes of people, the residents either hide and pretend they are not home or just tell the folks at their door "not interested". Then after they leave they wonder what it was all about but they just brushed them off because they either have their own religious beliefs that they are "comfortable" with or they like not having any beliefs. Doesn't stop people from being curious.
  • Maybe many AB members go through what I went through a few minutes ago. It is Saturday morning and I am staying calmly at home, doing laundry while watching Olympic events on TV, when a couple of JW ladies showed up to the front of my house and I just went outside and said to them "I am not interested..." They just walked away, but I didn't feel good about it because I am a nice, not rude person who didn't like the little scene I created. But...I have the right to my privacy, to be left alone in peace with my own beliefs....and that's when thoughts about JW's come to mind and maybe that's why they create controversy....because our values and personalities collide when we feel that we have been intruded... Maybe that's why there are so many JW questions and discussions on AB and many other websites.
