  • Not the *end* of the universe, more like the beginning. Light has a finite travel time, so when we look up we see the Moon as it was 1.3 seconds ago, we see the Sun as it was 8 minutes ago. We see stars as they were years or decades or millions of years ago. The furthest thing we can see is the cosmic microwave background radiation. This was something like 13.1 billion years ago, when the universe was much hotter and denser than it is now, and cruically, it wasn't transparent then, so we can't see any further than that.
