Yes, I do this every so often, just to make sure that no personal information about me (bank account number, etc.) appear on the Net. There are several others who have my name, and then there are about 5 listings of me from professional organizations, but so far my identity has not been stolen - or at least, it has not been broadcast over the Net.
I also check out other relatives' names every so often, like my parents, to check for the same thing.

Exactly *one*. I don't have a very common name.
I have found my name used by roleplayers who were playing a space captain, a zombie, a vampire, another space captain, and something else. These do not bother me.
I found one that had me infuriated to the point where I joined the website to get a message to the admin to take it down. Of course, I never got a reply. Here is the story:
I was online briefly in 2000. I returned online in 2005. I googled myself to find that not only had I been role played in 2003, they role played ME by NAME and physical description. This was straight out identity theft.
I still do not know who the person was that role played me. S/he obviously knew me IRL because s/he had how I WALKED down pat and a very good approximation of my SPEECH patterns.
Before anyone says this is flattery... think about it.
Oh, there are various people with my name from various countries as well. None of them are English so I do not know anything about them.
I have stalkers and they have role played me since 2005 to defame me but they are not the creepy one. The one from 2003 was a bit frightening.

Oh sure. I come from a family of achievers and the names of my relatives came up along with references to them. On the other hand the biggest "and unpleasant" surprise to learn that there exists an Italian-sounding website that used our surname. We have Spanish blood but not Italian.
Incidentally, the question should read "Has anyone googled THEIR own name..." Common mistake. No offense intended.
