  • Assuming that you could fill the container with just steam (aka water vapor), then as the water vapor condenses, the remaining water vapor would still fill up what space is not occupied by the liquid. This is just the nature of gasses. They will fill up what ever volume is available to them no matter how little gas there is. However, if you container is flimsy enough, then as the water vapor condenses, you would see and interesting phenomenon. The sealed container would start to collapse. As the water vapor condenses, it would no longer be there to provide pressure. So, the pressure of the air outside of the container would crush it.
