How come black pride marches are considered "progressive", but a white pride march would be considered "racist"?

Come on now...are you really interested in an answer or being provocative? Considering past history, I think you can figure the answer out. The caucasion race (my race) has had a pride march for many, many years...sometimes even marching over different cultures, religions, etc.

Perhaps they are considered progressive because it's commendable that such a large group can gather without erupting in violence.

Because whites have not been historically discriminated against as a race due to their skin color. Any other questions? (FYI there are lots of "white pride" marches - look at the St. Pat's day parade for just one example, or any of the musters of the KKK.)

i think it is absurd to be proud of something you can't control. being born white or black is nothing to be proud of. they are not accomplishments. to answer your question, no, i don't think it would be racist, i think you are just frustrated with the false pride of others. unfortunately, the system is so discriminatory that i'm certain that you would not be able to get a permit for your parade.

WELL NO IN MY OPINION ,WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING REALLY THAT CELEBRATES WHITE HERITAGE SO WHY NOT!WOULDN'T USE THE WORD PRIDE AND WOULD BEING CELEBRATING MY FAMILY HERITAGE!! HAPPY??

Probably to many it would. Could you hold a parade that celebrates all types of folks? That would be way more interesting :)

I don't think it would be racist, but I'm sure that most people would view it as racist. Because it would seem too superficially similar to white "supremacists". Oddly enough, a European-American Pride Parade probably wouldn't seem as bad. Personally, any type of <race> Pride seems ridiculous to me. I'm an American, here and now. What does it matter to me where I came from.

As long as your "white pride parade" didn't encourage racism or thoughts of being superior and was simply about the culture you have. But as I'm sure you know, anything saying white pride is going to be "racist", because White Pride is typically said by those who are racist and narrow-minded. So if you do have a parade like that, and you aren't racist, dont be shocked if you see a bunch of racist walking around. Besides, there are "white pride" parade...more like nationality parades though (like a Scottish festival, German festival). What would make it "racist" is the whole "White Pride". But a Celtic, Scottish, German, italian festival would not be...and would not exclude any race.

Black people have a long history of being degraded and demoralized by others, mostly whites. So when you see a Black Pride Parade, the understandable subtext is "I am not ashamed of my race". But a White Pride Parade does not exist in that context. Whites have never, in our culture, been systematically humiliated as a "race".

To most people, but if its not meant like that at all then I don't see a problem with it.

Why divide humans by skin color at all? That one has never made a whole lotta sense to me.
