I'll admit it. I sometimes catch myself venting about stuff just for the sake of letting off steam. It can be cathartic and OK - to some degree. I do find that I snap out of it and get back trying to stay productive and positive. It is a waste of time and energy to dwell in the negative. And it's not so great for the people being vented to, either!

At times I do. Sometimes its just venting as Sixty B said. Other times I am so tired and the task seems so hopeless that all I can do is vent a bit, though after I've gotten it off my chest I tend to find myself reinvigorated and able to think about solving the problem.

All the time. It's much easier to complain.

First thing to mind was a phrase we used all the time back in the 1960s .. "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem". :) Well hey .. we were trying to make a difference .. make change .. decrease apathy or endless complaints, anger or even depression .. and get that energy into FOCUS for something better. (Sounds rather familiar to today's world, doesn't it?) I tend to have a similar outlook all this time later. If someone complains about someone or something in political life but I learn they didn't vote? Uh oh! LOL So I'll chime in with Sixty in the sense that now and again we all need to just "vent". I know I do. But we know we're venting! It's not our "way of being in the world" if that makes sense. Imagine what a fix we'ld be in if NO ONE tried to fix anything or assumed it was always going to be "the other guy" who did it! :)
