The mispronunciation of the word new-queue-ler possibly cost Carter the election in 1980. He kept saying it in the debate with Reagan. The Democrats hold the patent on that word!

She was clearly coached to sound as "folksy" as possible, with all the "gosh darn"s and "golly"s. If you watch footage from her Alaska debates, she doesn't use any of those phrases, and she has been known to pronounce nuclear correctly. So I think it's all a put-on.

She's not very well-read. Add to that she's an American, and you have a lethal combination. Besides, it takes the attention away from her generally fascist policies.
