  • It makes me even more anxious to see how she'll do in the VP debate tomorrow. I think a lot of people are expecting her to fold.
  • Palin showed her true colors as a brainless boob, completely unqualified to be one heartbeat away from the Presidency. Talk about pageant responses . . . but did anyone expect more from "Caribou Barbie?" It's too bad that McBush and Co. thought they had to resort to tokenism to have a chance in November, instead of choosing a smart, qualified candidate.
  • I gave points here and tried to answer this TWICE now. I don't normally answer these types of questions. (politics) However, each time, I got on a roll and I had this great big long answer! Sheesh. Maybe I need to get these opinions OUT more. lol Ok. I'll try this again. Your question is biased with the use of the word disastrous in it, but it's ok because it's an opinion question. My opinion? Good word. It was disastrous. We're so far over the line right now, I'm about beside myself! I'd think it was a joke if not so serious for us and our country. I'd go with sad, if we had time for that. We don't. I've already heard people say she's just inexperienced ... not in general .. but inexperienced with doing news interviews. But we NEED to hear her (and anyone we might choose to lead or represent us) in both scenarios then compare. I want to listen .. and compare. Hear the "sounds this way when scripted" and "that way when allowed to just speak under their own brain power so we can get a sense of them". So much depends on how similar or different those are. If really different, then WHO is putting those words in her mouth and why aren't THEY running then????? At least it would be honest then .. and we could actually see discussions and debates on issues. What a concept!! But for a nation to say .. of the four people we hold in highest esteem .. that we feel best represent us .. and could lead and sustain us in good times and bad times .. that "she" is one of the best and the brightest .. worthy of our esteem .. and trust? I'm sorry. I'm downright ashamed. That interview speaks for itself. If the US has already been losing their shiny silver star image in the world with other countries, THIS is doing nothing to restore its luster. It shows just how tarnished we have become. Yes, inexperience showed in the news interview. But so did ignorance and confusion. NOT what we need in a top leader of a huge nation in the world. It was like she had "x number of slogans and phrases" memorized and she just rotated amongst them .. spit them out .. like those dolls where you pulled the string and they said a few words. Scary stuff. I'll also say that that the choice of HER as a running mate sends McCain's judgement ratings right down the tubes for me. He made a "play" - a gamble - a crap shoot - conservative and female - do not pass Go, do not collect $200. That's not being innovative or even being a "maverick". It's downright irresponsible. Shoot. STILL got on a roll. Never answer these and now I'll probably get five thousand DRs, right? Ah well, scale of one to ten - better to get it said. This whole Palin VP candidacy is downright SCARY for the US. That interview. She and McCain get into the White House. She does "anything" as VP and we're already dead. Something happens to him and she moves up? Hang it up. We're done for. :(
  • KC: "And when it comes to establishing your world views, what newspapers and magazines...did you read?" SP: "I've read most of them...With a great appreciation for the press, the media" KC: "But like, which ones specifically" SP: "All of them, any of them" KC: "Can, can you name a few?" SP: "I have a vast variety of, um, sources where we get our news from. Alaska isn't a foreign country....Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America" Katie Couric's expression was priceless. I can just imagine what she was thinking.
  • I'm absolutely appalled. I don't believe she should necessarily have an advanced degree or extensive experience, but she should have a good understanding of issues, a personal interest that lead her to research and understand these issues, critical thinking and logic, and be able to articulate a comprehensible sentence. I'm a feminist and a woman, and I'm frankly tired of criticism of Palin quickly and arbitrarily labeled "sexism". When people ask how she will raise her children and be VP, that is sexism. No one asks that of a male candidate. When people question and criticize her reasoning, knowledge, and experience, that isn't sexism. It happens to all political candidates. Also as a feminist and a woman, I'm frankly dismayed at the choice of Palin given her demonstrated grasp of issues, policies, and inability to rationally analyze information. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't find a better candidate - male or female. I'd wish they'd stop trying to present this semi-literate token as a representative of the people, or of women. Much much better representatives of both can be easily located.
  • With the McCain campaign's public crusade against NBC and MSNBC, CBS and Couric saw an opening to shore up her last place ratings among the big three nightly news programs. Speculation had swirled for months around Couric's future as a news anchor. So CBS and McCain “needed each other”. This summer CBS News was caught editing an interview with John McCain to correct his wrong answers to questions posed by Couric over the basic facts of the surge. CBS News also erased McCain's comments characterizing the Iraq war as the first major conflict since 9/11, which totally ignores the Afghanistan War. The way that the press is covering this campaign is very strange
  • It show her true colors, she is not capable. I base this on many interviews not just this one.
  • I'm still laughing.
